The ASVAB will be administered at Valley High School to 11th and 12th grade students Thursday, September 24th, at 8:00 am. in the Media Center.  It assesses a student's ability to learn new skills and is a predictor of success in training and education programs regardless of post-secondary intention.  If you are a junior or senior interested in taking the ASVAB, please email Ms. Harris' or sign up with your advocacy teacher.  If you already have a satisfying score, it is best that you do NOT retake the test, as the new score will replace your current test score.

7/16/2020

I know everyone has been waiting for an update about school starting. Chambers County employees have been working diligently to determine the best way to handle the reopening of schools. As such, please allow me to give you a brief synopsis of what you can expect at Valley High School.

As far as we know now, school will start on time, on August 12th, for all students. Students may begin arriving on campus NO EARLIER than 7:10 am. At the time of arrival, each student will be directed to a room in which he or she can be socially distanced to the greatest extent possible. Students will not be permitted to hang out in the halls, outside the school, or anywhere else on campus due to COVID guidelines.

In classes, students may wear a mask, but will not be required to do so unless group work or working very closely with others is necessary. The teacher will wear a mask if he/she gets within 6 feet of a student. In the halls, all students and personnel are required to wear a mask, as social distancing is not possible.

Students will eat lunch in their classrooms this year. Masks will be required when students go into the cafeteria to pick up their lunches. All cafeteria personnel will wear masks as well.

Dismissal from school will begin with bus riders at 3:09 pm. After the majority of those buses have been loaded, walkers, car riders, and those remaining on campus for after school activities will be released. At all times, students exiting the classroom and the building must wear a mask and must go directly to their transportation method. This is to minimize potential exposure to COVID 19.

More information will be released as it is available.

If you are interested in your student utilizing virtual school due to COVID -19 concerns and did not complete the survey the central office sent out, please do contact the school.

We are looking forward to a great school year, even if it looks a little different than normal.

Regards,

Dr. Sherry Ashe
