Daily Announcements


*Hopefully by the end of the day today, we will have a date for the rescheduled Sadie Hawkins Dance.
*Congratulations to the VHS Competition Cheerleaders on their great performance at the Southern Championship in Birmingham this past Saturday.  They received a 2nd place trophy and a bid to Nationals in February.

*We will have football tryouts for anyone in grades 9-11 who want to be on the 2018 football team December 18-20th at Ram Stadium 3:30-4:30pm.  You must have your own transportation to and from the Stadium.
*Attention prospective Vallerata Pageant Contestants and Mr./Miss VHS Nominees.  The first pageant meeting will be January 11th at 3:15 in Ms. Otto's room.  The 2018 Vallerata Pageant is scheduled for Saturday, February 24th at 6:00pm at Langdale Auditorium.  Application fee for pageant contestants is $15.00.  Deadline to sign up and pay the application fee is Wednesday, December 20th.  Sign up with Ms. Otto or Mrs. Magbee.

*Attention all juniors and seniors--Have you heard when the biggest party of the year will be?  Do you know where the biggest party of the year is located?  If not, 2018 VHS Jr/Sr Prom is April 21st at the Southerly Warehouse in Opelika, AL.  Since the date and location is locked down, all we need is a theme.  Outside Mrs. McCarty's door is a poster where you can put your suggestions to have your say.  On a different note, a two week Christmas Special is going on from now until December 20th.  It is a 20% discount on tickets for the prom which brings the total to $40 a ticket.  Take your money to Mrs. McCarty located in room 211.

*Juniors, do you love making new friends and traveling?  If so, you should participate in the Tallapoosa River Electric Montgomery and Washington Youth tours.  This is once in a lifetime experience gives students the opportunity to learn about the history of Alabama and the United States, as well as, the cooperative form of business and legislative process.  The best thing of all is the trips are FREE!  In order to be eligible, Junior students must be the dependent of a Tallapoosa River Electric Cooperative member.  If you're interested in more information and completing an application, please stop by to see Ms. Bledsoe.

*Juniors--applications are now being accepted for the 14th annual Bezos Scholars Program.  This is a leadership development program for public high school juniors and educators.  The application deadline is February 9, 2018.  In order to be eligible, you must be an ambitions public high school junior who demonstrates academic rigor, curiosity, and leadership.  Please see Ms. Bledsoe for more information.
