Good afternoon parents,
The Chambers County School District will delay the start of school on Tuesday, 1/9 by 2 hours. The call-in bell will be at 9:30 AM as opposed to 7:30 AM. Once students arrive on campus they will be reporting to homeroom. We will remain in homeroom from 9:30 to 9:41 for morning announcements. At the 9:41 bell, we will be transitioning from homeroom to third period. This should place us back on our routine schedule for the remainder of the day.
After homeroom, all students that have CT classes for second and third period will report to the cafeteria. Students that have CT classes for third and fourth period will board the bus once it arrives at VHS by the sound of the 9:41 bell.

Chambers County School nurses recently visited the Chambers County Community Health and Wellness Center in Lafayette, hosted by Linda Gibson-Young, Health Services Director. They were able to tour the facility and meet with members of the Alabama Department of Public Health to learn about many useful resources available in Chambers County. Happy New Year! We hope that you and your family had a relaxing and safe Holiday Season. A heads up that school-parent compact forms for the 2023-2024 school year were sent home with students today. As you may be aware, Valley High School was granted eligible for Title I funding for the current school year. One of the requirements for Title I schools are for the aforementioned forms to be completed and signed by the local school, parent and the student. If you would, please review, sign and return the form back to school with your child by Monday, January 8, 2024. Feel free to contact the Main Office at Valley High School if there are any questions. Hello parents, Midterm exams will resume tomorrow, 12/19/23. Exams will be administered in 7th period, which will be for 90 minutes. Tomorrow's schedule is as follows: HR, 7, 1, 2 and 3. Tomorrow is a district wide half day and students will be dismissed at 12 PM. Please also be reminded that the district's dress code will be strictly enforced tomorrow. Good afternoon parents and guardians. We are seeing an uptick in the number of students wearing hoodies. Please remind your students that hoodies are not allowed on campus. Please also refer to the code of conduct in reference to discipline procedures for students not following the uniform policy approved by CCSD.
Attention all 10th grade students and parents: All 10th grade students will be taking the Pre-ACT on Thursday October 19th. This is a graduation requirement. Students, please get adequate rest the night before, eat a good breakfast, and arrive on time to school with a fully charged chromebook.

Attention Parents,
Flu consent forms were passed out today during Homeroom. If you would like for your child to receive the flu vaccine, please make sure to complete the form in its entirety and have your child return it back to their Homeroom teacher by October 31st. Flu vaccines will be administered on November 1st.
Report cards went home today, Thursday October 12th. Please contact your child's teacher and/or grade-level counselor if you have any questions regarding your child's grade.
Dear VHS Family, Due to the anticipated chance of rain this afternoon, our Pep Rally/Bonfire has been cancelled. We are still planning on holding our Homecoming Parade tomorrow, beginning at 5 pm.
CCSD Statement – on Huguley Elementary School incident – Oct 10, 2023
On Thursday, October 5th, students at Huguley Elementary School began preparing for dismissal that afternoon. Prior to dismissal and following dismissal, no incidents of concern were reported by students or staff regarding the safety and well-being of any Huguley students. All dismissal of car riders and bus riders took place without any reported incidents.
On Friday, October 6th, near mid-day, Huguley Elementary School Principal, Mr. Philip Jenkins received a visit from authorities representing the Lanett City Police Department. It was at this time on Friday, that Mr. Jenkins was made aware of an alleged incident by which a Huguley Elementary School student was injured prior to dismissal on Thursday afternoon.
Mr. Jenkins fully cooperated with law enforcement authorities and reviewed campus video footage. None of the footage reviewed supported any of the allegations made to law enforcement. Additionally, the Huguley Elementary School SRO (or School Resource Officer), SGT. Yates found no evidence to support any wrongdoing by other students or school staff
The school leadership at Huguley and the District have strived to be cooperative and assist with the investigation. The Chambers County School District is committed to maintaining the health, safety and overall well-being of all of our students.
